Boundaries of the Self
Learn ways to strengthen & regulate your boundaries

Date: Sunday, March 17
2-4:30 pm

Crazy Wisdom Bookstore
114 S. Main Street in Ann Arbor

FREE

Our boundary is the invisible protective screen that develops around the self to hold our developing self intact as children. The boundaries provide a sense of security for children and protect their innocence. Later our boundaries determine our sense of self-esteem, our self-confidence, our sense of control over our lives and our personal freedom. With clearly defined boundaries, we know our own thoughts and feelings and, in turn, are able to interpret and regulate our interactions with our world. Boundaries can become blurred through boundary invasion or boundary neglect.

Embracing Your Inner Family
Voice Dialogue, Psychology of the Aware Ego

Date: TBA

Crazy Wisdom Bookstore
114 S. Main Street in Ann Arbor

FREE

We think of ourselves as being one self, one unitary being. We identify with certain ways of being in the world, primarily the ways of being that we developed to protect us in childhood.  Voice Dialogue is a way of discovering and working with a myriad of autonomous selves operating within us. By separating from and understanding these “selves,” we can begin to make informed, conscious decisions about our ways of being, ways of interacting.

In Voice Dialogue, these clusters of selves are called our primary selves. Some of the most common primary selves are: the pusher, the people pleaser, the caretaker, the needy child. We also have disowned “selves” which usually show up in our most intimate relationships. The law of the psyche is that whatever you disown, life brings you over and over again in your relationships

Come discover your primary and disowned selves and begin to understand the importance of developing an aware ego, a consciousness and ability to have choice about your ways of being and functioning in the world

A Deeper Understanding of Anger
Its Pros & Cons

Date: TBA

Crazy Wisdom Bookstore
114 S. Main Street in Ann Arbor

FREE

Many folks have difficulty expressing anger; others freely express anger. Yet all of us need to learn to use our anger impulse to identify the underlying feeling of hurt lying beneath the anger.

Anger is not a primary emotion. It's a physiological signal that something doesn't feel "right", that we feel misunderstood, taken for granted, ignored, insulted, etc.

Come to this workshop to learn more about anger - where it comes from, how to use it for discovery of underlying feelings, and how to safely express anger. Anger can be our friend if we decipher its deeper meaning and its relevance for self care. So often anger is destructive in relationships, while if used constructively, it can improve and enrich our relationships.
